How in the world is it almost Thanksgiving?! When my wife and I were expecting our first child, everyone told us how quickly time would fly, but I never imagined THIS fast. Our son, Louie, was born in April this year and quickly made me feel just as naive as he is. We had successfully raised a happy and healthy golden retriever, so I figured that meant I could tackle anything fatherhood had to offer. How much harder could raising an immobile baby be than a puppy? I discovered the answer to that pretty quickly as I contemplated walking the seven miles home from the hospital to avoid driving with him in the backseat.
Many restless nights and dirty diapers later, I now realize I grossly underestimated the amount of change he would bring to my life—but also the amount of joy! We were blessed with a healthy, handsome, and extremely happy baby who is constantly learning and developing. He’s teaching me a lot about myself as well. As a follower of Jesus, I am called to “lay down my life” for others, prioritizing their needs and well-being over my own. I’ve admittedly failed at this countless times and will continue to do so, but Louie has given me a less-than-gentle nudge on that front. He has forced me to rearrange my priorities, tee times, sleep schedule, date nights, gym routine, and every other pattern that was common before him. I would be lying if I said that was easy for me—I tend to rely too heavily on a schedule. But it has been one of the most fulfilling and humbling practices I have experienced, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to love him sacrificially, the way Jesus loves us.
Louie has helped me understand that one of the most impactful aspects of my role, and what we do at Aspire Wealth Group, is giving you, our clients, a portion of your valuable time back. Time that you don’t have to spend worrying about your financial future or which stock to buy and when—time that can instead be invested in the people you love and whatever is most important to you. I’m thankful you’ve entrusted us to help make that possible.
I’d also like to note that my wife is a rockstar mom who I would be lost without, and our dog is still trying his best to accept our diverted attention.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving!
